ILLINOIS USE OF FORCE GUIDELINES

TRAINING, RESEARCH, UPDATES & PROTOCOLS

The Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board (ILETSB) has established mandated training requirements for Illinois Peace officers. Such training equates to 30 hours within a three-year period. Calibre Press, with over 40 years of state-of-the-art, up-to-date researched training has created a specially designed 16-hour course that specifically addresses most of the subject matters -required by the ILETSB.

The required subjects addressed in our two-day course include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • 6 Hours of Instruction On: Use of force techniques including the use of de-escalation techniques designed to prevent or reduce the need for force whenever safe and feasible

 

  • 6 Hours of Instruction Focused on: Traffic stops, including high-risk stops, as well as:
    • The law concerning stops & searches
    • Laws regulating the use of force under the 4th Amendment of the US Constitution

    • LE Policies & Procedures
    • The Illinois SAFE-T Act
