Major Scott Hughes began his law enforcement career at the age of 16 when he joined a law enforcement explorer program. Scott remained active in the program until the age of 21 when he entered the police academy. He currently serves as a Major with the Riverside, OH Police Department.  Before his employment with Riverside, Scott worked for an agency in Southwest, OH as a road patrol Sergeant, Traffic Safety Officer, Field Training Officer, and supervisor of the agency’s Street Crimes Unit.

Scott is a police academy Commander and Advanced Law Enforcement Training Coordinator at a regional training facility as well as a certified instructor through the Ohio Peace Officer’s Training Commission. Major Hughes has been recognized as a subject matter expert by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission in traffic stops.

Major Hughes studied Organizational Leadership at University of Charleston and is a graduate of The Supervisor Training and Education program as well as The Police Executive Leadership College, both affiliated with the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police.

Scott is a contributing writer and Instructor for Calibre Press.  He is the creator and lead instructor of the course TNT: Tactics in Traffic. He also instructs the Street Survival Seminar and Warrior’s Edge programs with Calibre Press.
